Mushrooms Help to Reduce Cognitive Decline

Mushroom is one of the main sources of food in the world. It has a very rapid cycle of growth which can be mass produce at once. People tend not know what mushroom provides to our health, instead they eat for pleasure. As the field of research has been growing exponentially, a new study has found that mushroom helps individuals with cognitive impairment.

Researcher has shown that mushroom has the potential of reducing the risk on cognitive decline. A compound found in mushroom called ergothioneine (ET) is a source of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory in which humans are unable to synthesize on their owned. Researcher also found individuals who has MCI tend to have a lower level of plasma level of ET compared with healthy individuals. This could explain that deficiency in ET can lead to neurodegeneration.
